Hondarribia
The only town in Gipuzkoa that still has its original walls. Cobbled streets, colourful balconies and Calle San Pedro, the undisputed capital of pintxos. Don’t miss the Castle of Charles V, the fishing port and the Marina quarter.
Hondarribia, seen from within.
From the slopes of Jaizkibel, the Peñas de Aia and La Rhune (Larrun) remind us how close the magical Basque mountains are, while the bay of Txingudi brings the French coast right up to our shores, creating a landscape like no other.
Ten minutes on foot and you are in the walled old town. Five, and you are among the sailing boats of Txingudi. Head up the mountain and, if the mist allows, you can see France. A corner of the Basque Country best discovered on foot — and we hold the keys.
